In news that has excited fans of classic anime, a new adaptation of Cat’s Eye, the legendary work by Tsukasa Hojo, has been announced. The series will premiere in 2025 as a Disney Plus exclusive. The announcement took place during the “Disney Content Showcase 2024” event held at the iconic Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
Cat’s Eye, originally published between 1981 and 1984 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, follows the story of the sisters Hitomi, Rui, and Ai, who own a café that hides their identity as the clever thieves known as Cat’s Eye. Mixing action, romantic comedy, and mystery, the series won over both readers and viewers, becoming a cultural phenomenon in Japan and beyond. In 2022, to mark the 40th anniversary of its release, an art exhibition was held that demonstrated the unwavering affection fans have for the work.
The creator of the series, Tsukasa Hojo, expressed his surprise and gratitude at this new opportunity to bring his creation to the screen. “This was my debut work as an author, and although I recognize many imperfections, the fact that it still receives interest, even from abroad, makes me deeply grateful,” he commented. Hojo also shared his excitement about how new generations could perceive this renewed classic.
With the announcement, a visual was revealed showing the three sisters posing under a mystical moonlight, capturing the stylized and elegant essence of the original work. Additionally, it was confirmed that Ado, the acclaimed Japanese singer, will perform a new version of the iconic theme “CAT’S EYE” by Anri, reimagined with arrangements by Yuki Hayashi.

The return of Cat’s Eye not only celebrates the rich history of the manga and anime but also promises to bring its legacy to a global audience thanks to the Disney Plus platform. With a mix of classic elements and a fresh interpretation, this new adaptation could become one of the most notable events in the entertainment world in 2025.
Cat’s Eye Synopsis
The three Kisugi sisters—Rui, Hitomi, and Ai—run a small café called “Cat’s Eye” during the day. In order to discover the whereabouts of their father, the artist Michael Heintz, who has disappeared, Hitomi and her sisters rob art galleries as the clever and mysterious thief “Cat’s Eye,” hoping that the artworks may give them clues about his disappearance. The crucial point is that Hitomi is in a relationship with Toshi, a police inspector who has sworn to catch “Cat’s Eye” and who, of course, has no idea about Hitomi’s double life.
