Code Geass Announces More Projects for Its Anniversary

Code Geass Anniversary

During a special event in Tokyo, it was revealed that the Code Geass franchise is preparing several new projects to commemorate its 20th anniversary, which will be celebrated in 2026. The announcement was made during the “Special Birthday Screening” event, which featured the films Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch and the recent Code Geass: Dakkan no Rose, with notable voice actors and producers in attendance.

It was confirmed that multiple new projects are in production to expand the Code Geass universe, though specific details have not yet been disclosed. Additionally, an event was announced that will feature consecutive screenings of all 13 films in the franchise. Dates and details for these screenings will be announced later through the franchise’s official channels.

During the year-end period, from December 29, 2024, to January 3, 2025, the official Code Geass YouTube channel will release a series of compilation videos. Simultaneously, it was revealed that the smartphone and PC game Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch – Lost Stories will include a new story based on Dakkan no Rose, further enriching the series’ lore.

The event featured appearances by Jun Fukuyama (voice of Lelouch), Kohei Amasaki (voice of Rozé), and producer Kojiro Taniguchi, who shared fascinating details and memories about their work on the franchise. Fukuyama recalled how the role of Lelouch was a turning point in his career, confessing that during the recording of the second season, he had to lower his voice significantly, which caused his neck to grow 4 cm thicker due to the physical and vocal strain. “It was a moment when I realized that, besides heart, physicality is also crucial in acting,” he reflected.

Meanwhile, Amasaki shared how portraying Rozé helped him overcome professional insecurities. An interesting detail about the character was also revealed: “Rozé” is an anagram of “Zero”, Lelouch’s iconic alias. Originally, the project carried the working title Dakkan no Zett, as a tribute to Zero’s “Z.”

Fukuyama closed the event with an uplifting message: “We hope these new projects will continue to inspire your minds and hearts. The journey of Code Geass is far from over!”
