A press release announced that the light novels written by Hamuo and illustrated by Mo, “Hell Mode: The Hardcore Gamer Dominates in Another World with Garbage Balancing (Hell Mode: Yarikomizuki no Gamer wa Hai Settei no Isekai de Musou suru)”, will receive an anime adaptation. The announcement did not reveal production details or a scheduled release date.

Hamuo began publishing the story on the independent service Shousetsuka ni Narou in November 2019, later releasing it in print through Earth Star Entertainment in July 2020, with illustrations by Mo. A manga adaptation by Tetta has been serialized in Comic Earth Star magazine, also by the same publisher, since October 2020.
Synopsis of Hell Mode: The Hardcore Gamer Dominates in Another World with Garbage Balancing
“Leveling up even when offline? That’s not a ‘hard mode’ game, that’s just an AFK game!”
The online game Yamada Kenichi religiously played shuts down its servers, leaving him with an empty void in his heart. He searches for a new game to fill it, but everything he finds is too easy. The type of game he loves—the kind that’s punishing enough to make players sink thousands of hours into it—no longer exists. “What’s this? You’re invited to a game that will never end.”
Kenichi stumbles upon a mysterious, unnamed game that promises an unparalleled challenge with limitless potential. Without hesitation, he selects the “Hell Mode” difficulty. Suddenly, he’s reincarnated in another world as a lowly servant. Now known as Allen, he sets out to uncover the secrets of his mysterious Summoner class. With no guides or online forums to rely on, he must carve his path to the top of this new world on his own.
