Synopsis

Zipang is a thrilling alternate-history anime that follows the crew of the modern Japanese Aegis destroyer, JDS Mirai, after they are mysteriously transported back in time to the Pacific Theater of World War II. Finding themselves in the year 1942, just before the pivotal Battle of Midway, the crew faces an impossible dilemma: should they intervene and alter the course of history or remain bystanders to prevent disrupting the future? Led by Captain Kadomatsu, the Mirai's crew must navigate moral and ethical challenges as they encounter historical figures and experience firsthand the devastation of war. With a combination of naval warfare, tactical drama, and deep philosophical questions about destiny and responsibility, Zipang offers a unique take on military history, time travel, and the consequences of changing the past.
