During Sony Group Corporation’s CES 2025 press conference, the production of an anime adaptation for the video game Ghost of Tsushima was announced. This project will be titled Ghost of Tsushima: Legends and is set to air exclusively on Crunchyroll sometime in 2027.
Ghost of Tsushima is an action-adventure video game developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Released in July 2020 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive (later optimized for PlayStation 5), the game is set in feudal Japan during the Mongol invasion of 1274.
The story follows Jin Sakai, a samurai fighting to protect the island of Tsushima after Mongol forces, led by the ruthless Khotun Khan, devastate his homeland. Initially committed to the samurai code of honor, Jin is forced to adopt stealthier and deadlier tactics—known as the ways of the “Ghost”—to defeat an overwhelming and merciless enemy. This internal conflict between honor and survival serves as one of the narrative pillars of the game.
